In this episode of the Redefine Business Podcast, host Brittany Schroeder sits down with the inspiring Jamie Jensen, founder of PiperBlue Organic Makeup, to talk about her deeply personal health journey, her passion for natural healing, and how that led her to create a clean makeup brand that’s transforming the beauty industry.
A Life-Altering Diagnosis That Sparked Change
Jamie’s journey began over 15 years ago when she received a series of devastating, “irreversible” health diagnoses. With her gut telling her not to follow the traditional medical route, and no access to the internet or alternative resources at the time, Jamie followed her intuition instead. Amid financial hardship and uncertainty—her husband had lost his job and medical expenses were out of reach—Jamie leaned into inspiration-led living.
They grew a garden, lived off food storage, and hunted wild game. She made massive lifestyle changes, eating only foods that would heal her body, and in doing so, experienced a full reversal of her diagnoses within just 18 months.
A Passion for Holistic Wellness
Jamie’s miraculous healing sparked a lifelong passion for alternative healing arts. She went back to school, built a client base, and began dreaming big—envisioning a full-scale wellness property. Investors were interested, but once again, Jamie listened to that quiet inner voice. She declined the funding and resolved to build her dream in her own way—with her own money.
And that’s where PiperBlue was born.
The Birth of PiperBlue Makeup
Jamie’s foray into clean beauty wasn’t just about skincare—it was about purpose. Forced to abandon all her conventional personal care products during her healing journey, she was frustrated with the lack of truly clean makeup options that actually performed well.
What began as a plan to white label another brand’s formula quickly turned into a two-year deep-dive into formulating products from scratch. From her basement, Jamie created PiperBlue’s flagship products—foundation, blush, contour, bronzer, setting spray, and powder—all designed to be clean, high-performing, and free from toxic ingredients.
Bootstrapped and Built from the Ground Up
With no formal background in cosmetic chemistry, Jamie relied on grit, intuition, and a mentor who pushed her to learn the process herself. By the end of 2021, she launched PiperBlue with a DIY website and three core products. Since then, the business has steadily grown, building a community of like-minded women who want better for themselves and their families.
Today, PiperBlue is more than a makeup brand—it’s a movement. A space for women who are healing, questioning the status quo, and choosing creation and connection over convention.
Trusting Yourself: The Bigger Message
Both Brittany and Jamie dive deep into the importance of listening to your gut—whether it’s your health, your parenting, or your business. Jamie shares how conventional wisdom isn’t always the right answer and encourages listeners to tune into their own intuition.
Her story is a reminder that sometimes the most powerful steps we take are the ones that don’t make sense to anyone but us.
