Stop The "I Don't Knows"

Stop The "I Don't Knows"

Stop The “I Don’t Knows”. We can do anything we want to do if it is important enough to us. Next time you are tempted to say, I dont know,” STOP!  Change your thoughts because you DO know! When you learn to control your thoughts, we open ourselves up to our full potential.

Stop The "I Don't Knows"

I attended a networking event last night. The host asked us to think about a specific person and circumstance that was pivotal in our business. It was hard to think of just one specific example. We are constantly being molded into what are suppose to become. I have had many, many failures and defining moments in my life both business and personal, but if I had to pick just one it would be the time that I discovered Life Coaching and the mindset tools I didn’t realize I was missing.

Around 2018, I got certified as a life coach through the Life Coach School. I don’t think I really knew what I wanted to do with it, but I knew that I wanted to learn more about it. I am sure you have heard the saying, “You don’t know, what you don’t know.” Well this is the truth. I didn’t know what I was missing and the tools I gained changed my life and was so empowering.

When you learn to see yourself and others in it in a different way it opens up the world to possibilities you didn’t think you were capable of. I know this statement is a tad eccentric, but it truly was life changing.

I have always been a motivated and driven person, but changing your mindset is most definitely is not the same thing

Stop the "I Don't Knows"

Let me give you an example:

I needed a new website. Feeling overwhelmed I didnt know where to start. My website needed to have a distinct look and specific features. My particular style was unique and I knew from past experience that I was a hard customer to please. I began shopping around for web designers but couldnt find exactly what I was looking for. I kept coming back to the same thought: I wish I could just do it myself, but I dont know how.”

The I dont know” is a thought we have more often than we should. But that is it—it is just a thought. When we say or think I dont know,” we stop ourselves in our tracks. We have no action, no progress, and no result.

What do you want for dinner?

I dont know.

When are you going to finish your masters degree?

I dont know.

When will you write your book?

I dont know.

The result of all these scenarios is always the same: nothing happens, right?

Stop The "I Don't Knows"

So how do we change? First, take I dont know” out of your vocabulary.  Dont think it or say it. We have to train our brain so we can get different results. Come up with a new thought that will serve you better.

For example:

When are you going to write a book?

I am going to dedicate 2 hours every Friday to writing. I can even get more specific and say I am going to dedicate every Friday from 9:00-11:00am to write and goal is to get it done by September of 2025.

Changing our thoughts from I dont know” to I will figure it out,” helps us progress. Our beliefs start to change about ourselves. We gain confidence because instead of stagnating, we move forward. We might not always get the results we wanted, but we progress and learn and that is ultimately what we want. The more we practice these thoughts, the less room we have for negative thoughts and self-doubt. We realize our grand capabilities and start working towards our goals.

I finally accepted that if I wanted my website to be a certain way, I would have to do it myself. Instantly I removed the I dont know” from my thoughts and changed it to, I am smart; I can learn how to build a website.” And that is exactly what I did. I set a daily goal for myself. The goal was to spend one hour every day either learning how to build a website, working on my website, or finding someone to help me on my website. Some days I would spend the entire hour trying to change the font! The whole process took much longer than anticipated, but guess what? I built my website.

Once I changed my thoughts, I was able to act and get the results I wanted. So often we think we arent capable, but in reality, those are just our thoughts. When we learn to control our thoughts and our minds, we open ourselves to our full potential. We can do anything we want to do if it is important enough to us. Next time you are tempted to say, I dont know,” STOP!  Change your thoughts because you DO know!

Defining Core Values In Your Business

Defining Core Values In Your Business

In Episode 63, Defining Core Values in Business, I talk about the importance of creating values and then aligning those core values with everything you do in your business. Your values will help guide you on your business path and make sure you are meeting your goals.

Defining Core Values In Your Business

I once had a business acquaintance. I had a few negative experiences with her, but moved on and just decided to steer clear of her. She was wellknown and very successful, but had a horrible reputation and was tabled a mean girl in the industry. Time passed and I had forgotten about her.

A
few years ago she randomly reached out to me asking if I wanted to collaborate. It would be a great opportunity and it would give me some great exposure. Yes its true she waived shiny objects in front of me and I gave in. agreed. I did my part of the collaboration and included all the bells and whistles, trying to ignore the fact that I wasnt her biggest fan. When the time came to promote the project, I started going my part. I sent out emails and started promoting on social media. Within minutes I received a few messages from friends I loved and respected. They where taken back that I was collaborating with this individual. Immediately, I felt regret. I knew I had made the wrong decision. I messed up. #FAIL Defining core values in your business is one of the first things you should do when starting your business.

Core ValUes

Core values are the fundamental beliefs of a business, they are guiding principles that dictate how your business will run. You need to decide right now what yours are going to be. Once you determine your core values. You want to make sure that your core values are aligned with every single thing you do, this includes speaking engagements, podcast interviews, product collaborations and more.

If
you are not firm in your core values you will not be prepared when someone or something might not align with your core values.

Stay true to your core values and who and what you want to be in your business.

Core
values are the fundamental beliefs of a business, the guiding principles that dictate how your company will run.

Your
businesss values help you determine if you are on the right path to fulfilling your business goals. There are plenty of values that you can consider.

Here
are a few of my favorites:

PROBLEM SOLVING

Building a great company is about solving one problem after the next. If you can surround yourself with people who are excited to hop from one problem to the next, you will achieve great things.

DRIVE

I have always felt that there are three types of people: people who want things to happen, people who watch things happen, and people who make things happen. I have found that ambition can be a really powerful value if it leads to people being the change they want to see in the
world.

AUTHENTICITY

There is too much at stake for a business to fall into a trap of trying to please anyone and everyone. Over the years, I have found that if people are honest, open, and direct in all they do, their relationships are solid and lasting.

COMPASSION

This is probably one of my favorite personal and professional values. Compassion is not something everyone possesses; it is a gift. The ability to understand the challenges that others deal with, what they care about, and how you can help them thrive to hit their goals and maximize their potential is a character trait I look for in everyone I interact with.

ADAPTABILITY

For me adaptability means one thing: How well can you pivot when you need to? While perfection is never possible, how well we adapt to change will determine how durable our success will be. In a world of constant speed bumps, but those who can roll with the change and still perform are prime time players you want to work with.

ACCOUNTABILITY

When we can own our part in anything good or bad we see massive growth. Blaming things on others doesnt serve us and can stop our progression. Recognizing that we can create the results that we want is essential to success.

We
have to be accountable for all the things in our business and that includes failure. Own up to what is not performing well so you can find ways to improve. If you are not accountable you may begin to sweep things under the rug or, worse, begin to point fingers or pass blame around.

INTEGRITY

Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. It is generally a personal choice to uphold oneself to consistently moral and ethical standards and a business should surround itself with people who care deeply about integrity. When this happens everyone benefits partners, customers, and, most importantly, you.

Every business needs to make time when defining your core values in your business. Make it a priority to identify and acknowledge your values. Everything you do in your business should reflect these values. When you are clear on your core values, all your interactions, choices, and goals should reflect those values. When your business begins to scale and when you hire or work with other people, make sure your values are shared with everyone you work with to ensure you maintain the integrity of your business and
brand.

How To Get Your Content Seen

How To Get Your Content Seen

REDEFINE PODCAST

How To Get Your Content Seen

How To Get Your Content Seen

One of the best ways to get your business noticed is through content marketing. Your goal is to get noticed by your potential client and generate leads. Did you know that 1.79 billion people where online last year? The majority of people looking for services or products begin their search online. Content marketing is one of the most effective ways to direct these searches toward you and your business. That is why it is important to learn how to get your content seen.

How to Get Your Content Seen

Content creation can take a lot of effort and time. I often hear small business owners complain about the time it takes and so, in turn, have given up on their efforts. Like anything in our business, its not about the time, but more so about the priority, we give things. Online marketing is quickly becoming the trend and in order to achieve the success you desire, content creation needs to become a priority.

Once
you commit to content marketing, youll want to maximize your efforts. Dont just write a blog post, share it, and then move on. In order to justify the time you spent creating, you must extend your reach. Your goal is to understand how to get your content seen and there is a better system that will help you produce results.

CREATE VALUE WITH YOUR CONTENT

Take the time to really know your audience. Who are they? What are their needs? What are their struggles? Create content ideas that will serve them and help them achieve success. Determine where they are in their business and help them develop. Do your market research. Reach out to your ideal clients and inquire about what they need help with right now. You want to become the expert and the way to do that is by helping your clients achieve their desired results. Remember, you might be a chapter ahead of your ideal clients, so try to put yourself in their shoes.

SHARE, SHARE, SHARE

Get the most out of your created content. There are a plethora of social media platformsuse them all. As long as your content is relevant, keep sharing it over and over. Make a list of all the social media platforms your ideal clients use and repost on all of those sites. You can pull little snippets or quotes to create graphics or smaller posts on different platforms to maximize the reach.

LINK OLDER CONTENT IN YOUR NEW CONTENT

A great SEO tip is to link your older relevant content to your new posts. When you are writing the new content, look for keywords or phrases that relate to some of your past content. This will boost your SEO and also help position you as an expert in several different areas.

UPDATE OR AMP UP OLD CONTENT

Take some time to go over analytics to see which of your content performed the best. Which topics did your audience find most valuable? Search the content for a topic or section you could elaborate on and dive deeper on. This supports your expertise and educates your audience on a topic they may find interesting to learn about. This will expand your reach and hopefully bring new visitors to your site.

CREATE NEW RESOURCES FROM OLD CONTENT

Figure out which of your blog posts performed well. Turn that content into guide, checklist, or cheat sheet. Create a video and post it on Instagram, FB, or YouTube. Sharing different content on different channels is a great way to reach new audiences and expand your brand.

FEATURING YOUR WORK

Reach out to others in your industry to collaborate. Offer to be a guest blogger. You can place your work in front of new audiences. Occasionally, publishers will want your fresh content to show up on their blog first, but after time you can post that same content on your own site. Other times they wont care.

There
are plenty of ways to extend your content. Dont feel like everyone is seeing your content over and over. Once you learn how to get your content seen, you will see an increase in traffic to your site and exposure to your brand. Your time is valuable. Make sure it counts!

How To Stop Caring What Other People Think

How To Stop Caring What Other People Think

REDEFINE PODCAST

How To Stop Caring What Other People Think

How To Stop Caring What Other People Think

How to stop caring about what other people think is the topic I’d like to focus on today. We spend so much of our lives worrying about what other people will think of us. Our kids misbehave, and we worry that others will view us as a bad” mom. We skip a social event and we assume that people will think we are rude. When we say whats on our minds, we are convinced we have offended. We tell someone no and then we feel like we need to give a reason and justification. The list goes on and on and on. When we learn to stop caring what other people think, we will find empowerment. We gaithe confidence to become who we want to be.

How To Stop Caring About What Other People Think

I think to a certain degree we all care what people think of us. If we didnt we probably wouldnt go to extreme lengths to look thinner, smarter, or younger, right? But when it can hinder our progression, hold us back, or takes control of us, that is when it becomes an issue. That is when something needs to be done.

One
of my favorite analogies is called A Peach is A Peach. It goes like this: You could be the sweetest, juiciest, tastiest, prettiest peach, but some people just dont like peaches and you know what? Thats okay. If someone told us they didnt like peaches would we constantly try to convince them that peaches are good? Would we coerce them into adding sugar or whip cream and try again? Probably not, but we do that with ourselves!

You Won't Please Everyone And That is Okay

Do we often act in a way that we think will please or impress other people? We do this in an effort to convince them what to think. We are seeking constant approval in our words and actions. The truth is some people just dont like or agree with us. That is okay. I could speak to a group of 100 women, fifty of them could agree with what I said and fifty of them could disagree. I know that I have no control over other peoples thoughts no matter what I do or say. None.

Have you ever bent over backwards to try to please a client or friend. You may have compromised your boundaries, spent endless hours working on project, extended your budget or time to still received unwanted criticism?

How To Stop Caring What Other People Think

I am uncertain if it my age, my energy level, the skills I have gained, or combination of all of those things, but I have learned many skills that have helped me learn to stop caring what other people think.

You
can gain the right tools to help you learn to believe and accept that yohave no control over what other people think. Dont get me wrong, it takes practiceLOTS of practicebut once you can accomplish this you will gain unbelievable freedom.

You do this by learning. You will build confidence you didnt know existed. You will become the truest, most authentic version of yourself. As this happens you will start to live a life that allows you to be and do things that will best serve you. Your relationships will become deeper and more meaningful. You will be a better mother, wife, sister, or businesses woman and begin to spread your wings and accomplish your goals.

Understanding Keywords For SEO

Understanding Keywords For SEO

Understanding Keywords For SEO

Understanding Keywords For SEO

Have you ever Googled your business? If you come up on the first page, you should be doing the happy dance. If not, its time to get to work. Ranking on the first page of Google takes effort, but using the right keywords can help you get there. When you take the time to research, select, and implement the best keywords for SEO, it boosts your visibility and helps your business grow. When you begin understanding keywords for SEO you will see the results.

WHAT ARE KEYWORDS?

Keywords are topics or ideas that give an overview of  your content.  When it comes to SEO, keywords or key phrases are what searchers use when they are looking for more information for a specific topic.

When you market your business online, you want to make sure your content is beneficial and intentional to your ideal client. Doing this will attract your ideal client and increase the possibility of converting them to customers.

One of the first steps in your SEO strategy should be to research and create a list of keywords that would attract your ideal clients. Putting in the effort up front will minimize your work and lay the foundation for all other SEO efforts. With this being said, make sure your keywords are highly effective and relevant.

WHAT ARE LONG-TAIL KEYWORDS?

Long-tail keyword refers a combination of multiple & specific words relevant to a topic. It is best to optimize your pages and posts with a long-tail keywords. Long-tail keywords have lower search volumes, but attract more relevant traffic. Long-tail keywords are less competitive but can be geared towards your specific niche.

For example:

Realtor

Residential Realtor

Houston Residential Realtor

Houston Designer and Residential Realtor

The more specific your keywords are, the less competitive they become. If someone searches realtor,” you will be competing with billions of other results. Using highly specific, long-tail keywords gives you a better chance of being noticed by the very people looking for you.

Another example of a long-tail keyword can be a question or phrase. For example, someone might do a search for “How to lose weight after 40”. If you are a weightless coach that group of words would be great for a your website, a blog, or a podcast if that is commonly searched for. A few great tools to use to find commonly searched long-tail keywords would be the search tool on Google, Pinterest, or Youtube. You can put in a couple popular words and the search tool with give you suggested searches. These suggestions are commonly used phrases.

IMPORTANCE OF KEYWORDS

Without keywords, your content will be extremely difficult to find through a search engine. 95% of U.S. internet users use search engines every single month. Without keywords, you are limiting your exposure. If youre going to take the time to blog, do your due diligence and make sure to maximize your efforts.

WEBSITE KEYWORDS

Keywords are not just reserved for your blog; your website should utilize keywords as well. Your keywords should be related to your businesses and the services you offer. Describe your work, the products you sell, the benefits you offer, etc. If you were looking for your specific service, what would you keywords would you search?  Use those keywords throughout the pages of your website.  Dont spam your site with keywords; use them organically.

Remember though that every page on your website is indexed and ranked separately so don’t just optimize your home page. Take the time to create pages for different offers and/or services and do research for keywords for each.  Also, make sure you are using keywords on your images too. There are lots of searches using the image feature.

PICKING THE RIGHT KEYWORDS

First, create a way to organize your keywords. This can be an Excel file, Word doc, etc.  With any marketing strategy you want to think like your ideal client. Although we know our businesses so intimately, try to think about what your ideal client wants. Just because you know the answers and information in your field, dont assume your ideal client does too.  Remember to include adjectives or different variations with your keywords. Use my best friend, the thesaurus. 😜

There are several resources for finding keywords available. Like I had previously mentioned Google, Pinterest, and Youtube are the free ones. If you use the Chrome browser you can search for some Chrome Extensions that help you find keywords. I have used the Chrome Extension, Keywords EveryWhere.

It doesn’t take a lot of time to create an entire database of keywords and long-tail keywords for your niche. Once you have created the list implement them in to your website, and then start blogging. SEO doesn’t give you the instant gratification that social media does, but it has a way longer life-span. It takes time and consistency, but it will pay off.

SEO doesnt have to be overwhelming. Break it down and work on it a task at a time. Learning how keywords work is the first step to improving your rank. Traffic generation takes time and can be a process. When you gain an understanding of keywords for SEO, you can utilize different sorts of traffic options and will start to see results.

The Importance of True Friendships

The Importance of True Friendships

I have mentioned before that I pick a word every year to focus on. A few years ago I was having a bunch of turmoil in my life. It seemed like I was being consumed with so much relationships drama and it was sucking my energy and my joy. When the first of the year rolled around the word that I picked was “Nurture”. I was going to stop putting my energy into fixing all my unhealthy relationships, but instead I was going to start nurturing my good relationships. This was such a pivotal time in my life. It made me reflect and ponder on my friendships.

The Importance of True Friendships

I remember when I was younger someone told me about the importance of true friendships. They continued to tell me that you can count your true friendships on one hand. I have to be honest, I didn’t believe that to be true. I’ve always been very social and love meeting new people. I have moved several times throughout my adult life, and with each move came new experiences and amazing friendships.

I often describe myself as a collector of people. Over the years, I have maintained many friendships. The occasional text message, phone call, and Christmas card are shared. I feel grateful for these friendships and it puts a smile on my face and joy in my heart when I reflect on the memories that we created together. At one time I naively thought many of them to be true friendships. I did not really discern between “friendship” and “true friendship.”

It’s strange as you get older and life happens. I have realized that the unsolicited advice I had received many years ago took on a whole new meaning. My true friendships, my inner circle, my people began to be revealed.  Then my circle got smaller, but my vision got clearer. I realized there’s strength in loyalty and devotion, not numbers. Today when I think of these friendships my throat tightens, my heart races, and tears fill my eyes. I am overwhelmed with gratitude when I think how these friendships carried me through some of my darkest hours. These friendships have become some of my most prized possessions.

I have friends that I consider family. They stuck with me and liked me when I didn’t really like myself. Many of you may know that I lost my 14 year old son in 2017. When you go through something as difficult as losing a child it changes you. It also, grants you a new perspective of what and who are really important. You weed out the things and people that suck your energy. In a way, it’s freeing and empowering.

When I reflect on some of my friendships I find myself asking: what makes these friendships so deep and meaningful? The answer for me, is vulnerability, loyalty, honesty, and confidence.

Vulnerabilty

When we are vulnerable, we are our most authentic, real, true selves. There is no hiding, no dishonestly, no manipulating and no competition when we are vulnerable. We share our weaknesses, our fears and our failures knowing that there is no judgement. When we connect deeply with others we divulge our struggles and fears. Our cries for help are heard even though the words are not spoken. We show up for one another even though we are struggling to show up for ourselves and we become relatable and connect on a deeper level when we show our vulnerable side.

The friendships that I consider true friendships are the ones that I know I can say exactly what I am thinking or feeling and they will love me regardless how ridiculous, selfish, or foolish I may sound. They love me for the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Loyalty

The next important factor to me is loyalty. When I looked up loyalty in the good ole dictionary it stated that loyalty was a strong feeling of support or allegiance. So when I think of loyalty in a friendship I think of these things:

They celebrate each other’s successes and are never going to be jealous of your success and they are genuinely happy for you whenever you have wins. Your wins are their wins.

A loyal friend will always stand by you when times are tough. You know you can get through breakups, illnesses, and other life drama because they’ll always be there by your side. You are never alone. They might not always agree with your choices, but they’ll still give you emotional support. They’ll always be there to catch you whenever you fall, and will never make you feel worse about the situation with, “I told you so’s.”

They stand up for each other. People will say all kinds of things about you. But they will always stand up for you no matter what.

Like all relationships, friendships can fade if only one person is willing to put in the effort to make it last. Friendship is a two way street. People feel loved and cared about when what they offer in a relationship is reciprocated. When you are making an effort to stay in each other’s lives after so much time has passed, that’s loyalty

Honesty

They keep it real. A good friend is someone who won’t always tell you what you want to hear, but will always tell you what you need to hear. A real friend can call you on your crap. You can be open to the criticism no matter how much you don’t want to hear it.

A real friend wants you to be the best and sometimes that means telling them the hard truth. When you can have a good honest friends you always make up. All relationships have their share of ups and downs. When you’re friends with someone for a long time, you’re guaranteed to fight at some point. But if you can be honest with friends will be able to come together after adversity as long as they’re not compromising their own integrity by doing so.

Confidence

I think confidence goes hand-in-hand in vulnerability, loyalty, and honesty. When you combine all of those characteristics you gain confidence that you will be loved and accepted and you can be your true self.

When you are confident in yourself you have the ability to be confident in your relationships. You don’t overthink and over analyze every word or action, but instead you can show up and nurture your relationships.

When you have confidence in yourself you can put more energy into your friendship. You can be a builder, you build others up because you see the best in them. You want your friend’s success and happiness as much as you want your own and you have the ability to help them cultivate that in their own lives.

True friends are one of the simple pleasures in life. I wouldn’t be me with out them. When we find those friends, the ones with whom we can be authentic and share our true selves, have each others backs, can be honest with, and can build one another, those are the friendships you hold on to. You soon realize the importance of true friendships. Those are the friendships you nurture, cherish and devote your time to. When we find ourselves in relationships like these, we cherish them, these are the friendships you count on one hand.
