Public Relations Coach Nicole Pearl

Publicity can often feel like an elusive, members-only club — one that requires insider contacts, magazine-worthy aesthetics, and a certain level of celebrity status. But according to award-winning PR coach and journalist Nicole Pearl, visibility isn’t reserved for the few. It’s available to anyone with the right pitch, positioning, and plan — and she’s here to show you how to break in.

In this episode of the Redefine Business Podcast, host Brittni Schroeder sits down with Nicole to pull back the curtain on how small business owners can land major media features — and more importantly, how they can leverage those opportunities into long-term growth. Nicole’s approach is fresh, strategic, and incredibly empowering. Whether you’re just getting started or you’re ready to scale, her advice cuts through the noise and gives you a real path forward.

A Career Built on Both Sides of the Pitch

Nicole Pearl’s career spans over two decades in the media world. She’s written for national outlets like InStyle, O Magazine, and Real Simple, and she’s appeared on TV segments for TODAY and Extra. She’s also the founder of The Beauty Girl, a platform that blends expert beauty advice with approachable personality — and her mantra, “Beauty shouldn’t be a b%tch… and neither should getting on TV,” perfectly captures her style.

What makes Nicole different from most PR coaches is her dual perspective. She knows how to pitch because she’s spent years receiving (and rejecting) pitches herself. That insider knowledge has allowed her to help countless clients land media placements that actually make a difference — not just in credibility, but in conversions, confidence, and opportunities.

After noticing how many brilliant small business owners were flying under the radar simply because they didn’t know how to approach media, Nicole made it her mission to fix that. She developed a step-by-step framework that teaches entrepreneurs how to identify the right outlets, craft compelling pitches, and build real relationships with the press — no fancy PR agency required.

It Only Takes One Win to Build Momentum

One of the most exciting parts of this episode is hearing the real stories of transformation from Nicole’s clients. Brittni asked her to share some wins, and Nicole delivered.

Take, for example, a travel organizer based in Morocco who came to Nicole with no press background at all. In just 30 days, she landed a feature in Forbes — her first-ever media placement. That one win opened the door to new speaking engagements, collaborations, and instant credibility in a crowded market.

Stories like that are not rare in Nicole’s world. Her clients include founders of product-based businesses, coaches, and consultants who go from invisible to in-demand using her framework. Whether it’s landing a digital article, a podcast interview, or a live TV segment, Nicole teaches her clients how to pitch themselves in a way that feels genuine and strategic.

Visibility That Lasts

One of the key takeaways from the conversation is that visibility isn’t just about getting seen — it’s about what you do with that attention. Nicole emphasizes that press isn’t a one-and-done moment. It’s a powerful tool that, when used right, continues to pay off long after the feature airs or the article is published.

Many entrepreneurs make the mistake of securing media coverage and then letting it sit on a shelf. Nicole helps clients flip that script. She shows them how to repurpose, promote, and plug their press into their marketing — whether that’s building it into social proof, boosting SEO, or using it to land new partnerships. Because when done right, a press feature is more than a badge of honor. It’s a business asset.

She also addresses a common concern: confidence. A lot of people assume that only extroverts or “big names” can break into the media, but Nicole dispels that myth. She calls herself an introverted entrepreneur and reminds listeners that visibility isn’t about being the loudest — it’s about being intentional.

Social Media Isn’t Enough (And That’s a Good Thing!)

The conversation also covers a refreshing reality check on social media. While platforms like Instagram and TikTok are great tools for connection, Brittni and Nicole both agree that social media has a short lifespan. A viral post may boost visibility for a day, but it doesn’t always translate into long-term growth or authority.

Media coverage, on the other hand, has staying power. A digital article or TV segment can continue driving leads and building credibility for months or even years. It also strengthens your SEO, making it easier for people to find you when they’re actively searching for your services.

Rather than relying on just one platform, Nicole encourages business owners to diversify their visibility strategy. Think press, podcasts, guest expert features, TV, and yes, even AI-friendly search traffic. The more doors you open, the easier it is to be discovered.

How Nicole Works with Clients

Nicole’s offerings are designed to meet business owners where they are. She provides 1:1 coaching, as well as a hybrid group course that blends personalized attention with strategic guidance. Clients work closely with her to fine-tune their positioning, write customized pitches, and build a press plan that fits their business goals.

Unlike generic templates or DIY PR kits, Nicole’s programs include real-time feedback, access to her personal media contacts, and even private press leads. She doesn’t just teach you how to do PR — she helps you do it, with clarity and confidence.

Her approach is tailored, actionable, and refreshingly honest. You won’t find fluff here — just a streamlined system designed by someone who truly knows the industry.

Take the First Step with the AI Media Matchmaker

If you’re curious about PR but unsure where to start, Nicole has created an incredible free tool to help you take that first step: The AI Media Matchmaker.

This quiz helps you discover the top five outlets where you should be pitching — including suggested angles tailored to your brand. From podcasts and digital publications to national TV shows, the tool gives you a roadmap to visibility without the overwhelm.

Fusion Collective Summit Recap

Behind the Scenes of a Virtual Business Summit: What It Really Takes to Pull Off a Multi-Day Event

Have you ever thought about hosting a virtual summit, but felt overwhelmed just thinking about the logistics? You’re not alone. In the latest episode of Redefine Business Podcast, Brittni pulls back the curtain and gives us an honest, detailed look into what it took to plan and execute her second annual Fusion Collective Business Summit—a free, multi-day event featuring over 30 speakers, custom web pages, email funnels, social media campaigns, and more Diet Coke than she’s willing to admit.

Whether you’re curious about hosting your own online event or just love a good entrepreneurial behind-the-scenes, this episode is packed with insights.

Going Bigger the Second Time Around

Brittni first launched the Fusion Summit with a modest 10-speaker lineup. After learning the ropes during that first go-around, she decided to scale it significantly this year, setting a goal of 30 expert speakers across a range of business niches—social media, copywriting, business law, email marketing, and more.

To find speakers, Brittni started with her email list of over 10,000 and created an application form. From there, she and her assistant built out a database (using Airtable and automation tools) to keep track of applicants, interviews, and selections. She was intentional about speaker quality and reach—because in online events, speakers are often key promoters.

Speaker Expectations and Onboarding

One of the major upgrades this year? Clarity and communication. Brittni set expectations early on with contracts, email templates, and even Zoom calls with potential speakers to make sure everyone was aligned. This helped avoid the problem she faced last year—where only half of her speakers actually promoted the event.

This time, she emphasized the importance of speakers being present—even for pre-recorded sessions—so they could engage in the live chat, drop links, and answer questions in real-time. A bonus this year was a virtual meet-and-greet among the speakers, creating more opportunities for networking and collaboration.

The Tech and Timeline

Here’s the truth: pulling off an event of this size requires a lot of planning time. Brittni started about three months ahead, and even then she wished she’d started earlier. Between unresponsive emails, last-minute dropouts, and juggling the speaker lineup, the prep work was real.

Some key changes she made this year:

  • Switched from live presentations to pre-recorded sessions (less stress and more consistency).

  • Trimmed sessions from 1 hour to 30 minutes to improve engagement.

  • Created a Contributor Hub for speakers with everything they needed: graphics, email copy, timelines, and FAQs.

  • Built multiple custom web pages, including a sales page, thank you page, summit entry page, resource page with freebies and VIP upgrades, and more.

Email Marketing, Social Media, and Promotion

If you know Brittni, you know she doesn’t mess around with email marketing—and the Fusion Summit was no exception. She wrote 10+ promotional emails, warmed up her list, and built out automated email sequences for both free and VIP registrants. Each email included speaker spotlights, daily schedules, and strategic calls to action to upgrade to VIP access.

Social media also played a big role. With 30 speakers, she and her VA created speaker posts for Instagram and Stories, leveraged collaboration tags to increase reach, and even used ManyChat to automate DMs and link delivery. She also dabbled in Facebook ads and tested new tools to increase signups.

What Worked (and What She’s Changing Next Time)

The summit pulled in close to 500 registrations—a number she’s proud of, even if it didn’t quite hit her stretch goal of 1,000. She knows that with free events, not everyone shows up live, which is why the VIP upgrade is a key revenue driver. At just $97, it included replays, exclusive bonuses, templates, consults, and more.

Some lessons she plans to implement next time:

  • Start speaker outreach even earlier, especially for high-demand topics.

  • Consider SMS reminders to boost live attendance.

  • Provide speakers with pre-selected topics to reduce overlap and improve session variety.

  • Schedule more Instagram Lives and podcast promo ahead of time.

Final Takeaways

Hosting a virtual summit is a lot of work—but it’s also a powerful way to grow your network, expand your audience, and create momentum in your business. Brittni’s transparency and willingness to share both the wins and the hiccups make this episode a goldmine for any entrepreneur considering a summit of their own.

If you missed the Fusion Summit live, you can still grab the VIP replay—with access to 30+ expert presentations, a library of free resources, and actionable tools to level up your business.

Savvos Founder Jack Fackrell

You never forget your first sale. For Jake Fackrell, it was five bucks to mow a lawn in the Vegas heat with his older brother and a rickety lawnmower. That little side hustle turned into a spark—and that spark turned into a lifetime of building, failing, pivoting, and succeeding in the world of entrepreneurship.

I had the chance to sit down with Jake on the Redefine Business Podcast, and let me just say—this conversation was packed with so much gold, I couldn’t stop smiling. Jake is currently the co-founder and COO of Savvos Health, but his story is about way more than where he is now. It’s about grit, reinvention, and a deep commitment to solving real-world problems.

Let’s rewind and start at the beginning.

A Hustler from the Start

Jake grew up in a home where hard work wasn’t optional—it was expected. He and his three brothers learned early on that if they wanted something, they’d have to earn it. By age eight, Jake and his brother were already in business, mowing lawns around their Las Vegas neighborhood and collecting cash the old-school way: door-to-door.

That scrappy spirit never left him. And even though he didn’t realize it then, he was already learning one of the core principles that would define his career: find a need, fill it, and deliver value.

Moving Constantly, Connecting Instantly

Here’s a fun fact: Jake moved more than 30 times before he was 16 years old. He thought it was normal. But what that constant change taught him was how to quickly build relationships. His dad used to tell him, “When you come home from school, I want to hear the names of two kids you met today.”

That ability to connect with people, to build trust quickly, has followed Jake throughout his career. Whether pitching a startup, networking at events, or building client relationships—he brings genuine connection to everything he does.

From Pre-Med to Passion

Jake originally set out to become a doctor. He studied pre-med at UVU, worked as an athletic trainer for the University of Utah football team, and had every intention of going to medical school. But the long hours, lack of flexibility, and his growing love for business pulled him in a new direction.

While still in school, he started a coupon card business that grew fast—really fast. Before long, it was being sold in over 60 schools from Las Vegas to Ogden. That success led him to a big realization: he didn’t want to be a doctor. He wanted to be an entrepreneur.

And his wife? 100% supportive, even when he pivoted away from a stable medical path to pursue building businesses full-time.

Wins, Losses, and That Dot-Com Crash

After selling his coupon card business, Jake jumped into a new venture: an online real estate platform called Home Sales Connection. Think of it as the early 2000s version of Homey. It was a solid idea, they had investors lined up, and things were looking promising—until the dot-com bubble burst.

They lost everything. Jake had taken out a second mortgage to help fund the business, and the failure was devastating. But he and his wife made the decision not to declare bankruptcy. They worked hard, paid off the debt, and learned some of their most valuable business lessons in the process.

Rebuilding and Scaling with Data-Driven Companies

Out of that tough season came some of Jake’s most successful ventures. He joined a startup in the real estate space, which sparked the idea for RedX (Real Estate Data X-Change), followed by Domega and the acquisition of Landvoice.

These companies specialized in real estate data—gathering, filtering, and delivering valuable information to agents and investors. Under Jake’s leadership, they served thousands of clients across the country and gained recognition from Silicon Slopes, Inc. 5000, and UV50, to name a few.

Jake’s strength has always been turning vision into action—and these companies are proof of that.

The Birth of Savvos Health

The idea for Savvos Health was born out of frustration. Health insurance premiums were rising every year, and Jake, like many business owners, felt powerless. A casual conversation with his benefits broker turned into a brainstorm. What if healthcare pricing were transparent? What if people knew what they were paying before they got the bill?

They tested a B2C model first (shoutout to “GlassFrog,” their original name), but quickly realized they could scale faster by working with health share organizations and self-funded employers.

Today, Savvos Health is revolutionizing the way patients, payers, and providers connect—offering real-time, cash-pay rates and a smoother, more affordable healthcare experience. On average, they save payers over $20,000 per procedure.

Not bad for a guy who used to sell coupon cards door-to-door.

Meet Jake Fackrell: The Entrepreneur, Adventurer, and Mentor

Jake is more than just a founder or CEO. He’s a husband, dad to six, and grandpa to eight. He earned his Business Management degree from UVU and an MBA from BYU in 2004. Over the years, he’s built a reputation for creating multi-million-dollar ventures—and mentoring others to do the same.

He’s an Ironman competitor, an endurance cycling enthusiast (yes, he really biked from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas), and someone who lives by the motto: Work hard, coach and be coachable, and help people achieve abundance.

You can connect with Jake professionally on LinkedIn.

Giving Back: The Change the World Foundation

Jake and his wife Tamara also run a nonprofit called Change the World Foundation, which helps families in developing countries with housing, education, marriage support, and life skills.

What started with a simple gesture—helping a couple in the Dominican Republic afford a marriage license—has grown into a movement. The foundation has now helped nearly 400 couples get married, and they host regular service trips, women’s retreats, and youth adventures in the Dominican.

For Jake, giving back isn’t just something he does. It’s part of who he is.

Build, Pivot, and Repeat

Jake’s story is a reminder that entrepreneurship is not a straight line. It’s a winding road with unexpected turns, failed ideas, and new opportunities waiting around the corner.

He’s faced setbacks, made bold decisions, and stayed rooted in his values along the way. And whether it’s in business or nonprofit work, Jake’s impact speaks for itself.

His advice? Build relationships. Stay optimistic. And never be afraid to pivot when something’s not working.

THE ANALYTICS YOU NEED TO KNOW IN YOUR BUSINESS

The Analytics You Actually Need to Know in Your Business

Let’s be honest. The word “analytics” doesn’t exactly get most of us jumping out of bed in the morning. Maybe it even makes you sweat a little. It feels technical, intimidating, and maybe a little… boring?

But here’s the deal: if you’re running a business, especially online, skipping out on your data is kind of like heading on a cross-country road trip with no map. Sure, you might eventually reach your destination. But you’ll probably waste a whole lot of time, money, and energy getting there.

No matter what stage your business is in—whether you’re just starting out, scaling your service-based business, or managing a growing online shop—there are some numbers you need to understand. And I promise, this doesn’t have to be scary or complicated.

Sales Analytics: Track Your Revenue, Not Just Your Effort

Sales are the lifeline of your business. If money isn’t coming in consistently, something’s off.

Keep an eye on how much revenue you’re generating, which offers are performing well, and how many of your leads are converting into paying customers.

It doesn’t have to be complicated—set up a simple dashboard in Google Sheets or Airtable to track your weekly and monthly income. If your numbers dip, take a closer look at your offer, your messaging, or your marketing strategy.

Website Analytics: Know What Your Visitors Are Doing

Your website is like a 24/7 storefront. But if nobody’s visiting or they’re bouncing quickly, something needs your attention.

Watch where your traffic is coming from, how long people stay, and which pages get the most love. Tools like Google Analytics or built-in stats from Shopify, Wix, or Squarespace can help you make sense of it all.

The goal here isn’t to obsess over every number—it’s to understand if your site is doing its job: keeping people interested and moving them toward taking action.

Email Marketing Analytics: Is Your List Paying Off?

Your email list is one of your most valuable business tools. But it only works if people are opening, clicking, and converting.

Pay attention to your open rate, click-through rate, unsubscribes, and sales. If your numbers are way below average (around 30–35 percent open rate and 2.5 percent click rate), it might be time to test some new subject lines or offers.

And if people are unsubscribing a lot? Don’t panic—but do get curious. It might mean your content needs a refresh or your audience needs a better reason to stick around.

Social Media Analytics: Move Beyond Vanity Metrics

We all love seeing our follower count rise, but the truth is that engagement matters more than numbers.

Are people commenting, sharing, and clicking through from your posts? Are they becoming leads or customers?

That’s where your focus should be. Even a smaller, highly engaged audience can be incredibly powerful if you’re using the platform strategically.

Ad Performance: Make Every Dollar Count

If you’re running paid ads on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or Google, you want to make sure you’re getting a return.

Track your cost per lead, cost per acquisition, click-through rate, and return on ad spend. A good rule of thumb is aiming for at least two times return on your ad spend.

If your numbers aren’t there yet, don’t give up. Test new headlines, creative, or targeting. Paid traffic can be gold—but only if you’re optimizing regularly.

Customer Analytics: Understand the People Behind the Purchases

There’s a human behind every purchase. The more you know about them, the better you can serve them.

Use surveys, reviews, support tickets, and behavior tracking to get to know your people. What are they buying? What questions do they ask over and over? What keeps them coming back—or drives them away?

This data helps you improve your offers, sharpen your messaging, and build stronger relationships with your audience.

Funnel Analytics: Find and Fix Your Leaks

Think of your funnel like a customer journey. Are people opting in, saying yes to your offers, and completing their purchases?

Or are they disappearing halfway through?

Track opt-in rates, tripwire conversions, upsell success, and checkout abandonment. Tools like Kajabi, ClickFunnels, and ThriveCart can help you identify where things are falling apart so you can patch the leaks and boost your results.

Productivity and Operations: The Behind-the-Scenes Gold

It’s not all about sales. How your business runs behind the scenes matters just as much—especially if you want to grow sustainably.

Are you and your team completing projects on time? Where is your time really going each week? Are client projects being delivered on schedule?

Even reviewing your completed versus planned tasks each week can give you insights into where things are getting stuck and how to streamline your systems.

Don’t Let the Numbers Scare You

I get it. Analytics don’t feel as fun as designing a logo or posting a viral reel. But the truth is, your data tells a story—a powerful one. It reveals where you’re losing money, where you’re growing, and what to lean into next.

You don’t have to track everything right away. Start with the basics. Look at your numbers regularly. Use them to guide your decisions, not intimidate you.

Because once you start listening to your data, you’ll uncover insights most entrepreneurs overlook. And that is your secret weapon.

Using AI in Your Business with Becky Beach

In this week’s episode of the Redefine Business Podcast, Brittni Schroeder sits down with Becky Beach, a digital product coach, speaker, and founder of MomBeach.com. Becky brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the conversation, especially when it comes to using AI to simplify and grow your business.

Becky’s journey began during a challenging time in her life. While pregnant and feeling stuck in a demanding corporate job as a web developer, she launched her blog as a creative outlet. What started as a side project eventually evolved into a multi six-figure business. Today, Becky teaches moms and entrepreneurs how to create and scale digital product businesses, and AI plays a major role in how she does that.

During their conversation, Becky and Brittni talk about how AI isn’t just for tech-savvy professionals. Becky breaks down how business owners at any stage can use tools like ChatGPT to generate blog outlines, brainstorm content, and work through writer’s block. She also shares how she uses Canva’s bulk creation feature to quickly build planners, journals, and workbooks.

One of the key takeaways from the episode is Becky’s reminder that AI is a tool to support your creativity, not a replacement for it. While it can help you move faster and generate new ideas, it’s still important to edit and refine the output to match your unique voice. Authenticity, Becky explains, is what helps you build real trust with your audience.

The episode also highlights other innovative AI tools Becky uses, such as MidJourney for creating images and Clean AI for transforming photos into short videos. She even explains how she designs seamless patterns with AI and sells them on print-on-demand platforms like Redbubble and Spoonflower, turning digital designs into phone cases, fabrics, clothing, and more.

Whether you’re a coach, content creator, or just starting your business, this conversation is packed with practical advice and inspiration. Becky’s story shows that learning how to use AI is simply a matter of curiosity and consistent effort. If you’ve been hesitant to dive in, this episode will help you see what’s possible when you take the time to explore.

How to Plan and Host a Successful Virtual Event

How to Plan & Host a Profitable Virtual Event

Virtual events have skyrocketed in popularity, offering businesses a way to connect with their audience, generate leads, and boost revenue without the logistical headaches of in-person gatherings. However, hosting a profitable virtual event requires strategic planning, engagement tactics, and strategies to monetize. If you’re ready to turn your next virtual event into a revenue-generating machine, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

Step 1: Define Your Event Goals and Objectives

Before you dive into planning, get crystal clear on what you want to achieve. Are you hosting a virtual summit to generate leads? A workshop to sell a high-ticket offer? A networking event to build brand authority? Defining your goals will help shape every decision you make, from content to marketing to pricing.

Key Considerations:

  • What is the main purpose of your event? (e.g., brand awareness, revenue generation, lead capture, education)
  • What action do you want attendees to take afterward? (e.g., purchase a product, sign up for a membership, book a consultation)
  • What metrics will define success? (e.g., registrations, revenue, engagement rates, conversions)

Step 2: Choose the Right Virtual Event Format

Not all virtual events are created equal. The format you choose should align with your goals, audience preferences, and monetization strategy.

Popular Virtual Event Formats:

  • Live Webinars: Ideal for educational sessions and selling digital products or coaching programs.
  • Virtual Summits: Multi-speaker events that can be monetized through ticket sales, sponsorships, and replays.
  • Workshops & Masterclasses: Hands-on, interactive training sessions that often lead to high-ticket sales.
  • Networking Events: Designed to facilitate connections and collaborations.
  • Hybrid Events: A mix of live and pre-recorded content for flexibility and scalability.

Step 3: Select the Right Tech Stack

Your tech setup can make or break the attendee experience. Choose platforms that offer seamless functionality and integrations.

Essential Tools:

  • Webinar & Streaming Platforms: Zoom, StreamYard, Hopin, WebinarJam
  • Landing Page & Registration: Kajabi, ClickFunnels, Eventbrite
  • Email Marketing & Automation: Flodesk, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, MailChimp
  • Payment Processors: Stripe, PayPal, ThriveCart
  • Engagement & Community: Slack or Facebook Groups

Step 4: Develop a Monetization Strategy

A profitable virtual event isn’t just about getting people to show up—it’s about creating revenue opportunities before, during, and after the event.

Ways to Monetize Your Virtual Event:

  • Ticket Sales: Charge for access to live sessions, premium content, or VIP experiences.
  • Sponsorships: Partner with brands who want exposure to your audience.
  • Upsells & Offers: Sell courses, memberships, or high-ticket coaching programs.
  • Affiliate Partnerships: Earn commissions by promoting relevant products or services.
  • Replays & Bundles: Sell recordings and exclusive event materials post-event.

Step 5: Market Your Virtual Event

Even the best-planned event will flop without an effective marketing strategy. Build excitement and drive registrations through multiple channels.

Proven Marketing Strategies:

  • Email Marketing: Create a pre-event email sequence to nurture leads and boost sign-ups.
  • Social Media Promotion: Use Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and TikTok to share teasers, testimonials, and countdowns.
  • Paid Ads: Run targeted Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn ads to attract attendees.
  • Affiliate & Influencer Partnerships: Leverage industry experts to promote your event.
  • Content Marketing: Publish blog posts, videos, and podcasts related to your event topic.

Step 6: Create a High-Value Attendee Experience

To keep attendees engaged and maximize profitability, focus on delivering a high-quality experience from start to finish.

Engagement Strategies:

  • Live Q&A Sessions: Encourage real-time interaction.
  • Polls & Surveys: Keep audiences involved and gather insights.
  • Exclusive VIP Access: Offer behind-the-scenes content or private networking.
  • Gamification: Use giveaways, challenges, and leaderboards to drive participation.
  • Breakout Rooms: Facilitate discussions and networking opportunities.

Step 7: Follow Up and Maximize Post-Event Profits

The event doesn’t end when the last speaker signs off. Continue engaging attendees to drive sales and build long-term relationships.

Post-Event Strategies:

  • Send Thank-You Emails: Express gratitude and provide next steps.
  • Sell Event Replays: Offer recordings for those who missed it.
  • Upsell Related Offers: Promote additional courses, coaching, or memberships.
  • Collect Testimonials & Case Studies: Use positive feedback for future promotions.
  • Analyze Metrics & Optimize: Review performance data to improve future events.

Final Thoughts

Planning and hosting a profitable virtual event requires strategy, execution, and follow-up. By defining your goals, selecting the right format, using effective monetization tactics, and engaging attendees throughout the experience, you can turn your event into a lucrative revenue stream.

Tiffany Peterson the Scaling Coach

Mastering Sales Mindset: Insights from Tiffany Peterson

Business and marketing can feel like a rollercoaster, but that’s why we’re here to redefine it! In this week’s episode of the Redefine Business Podcast, hosted by Brittni Schroeder, we dive into sales mindset with speaker and coach Tiffany Peterson. Tiffany shares invaluable insights on overcoming sales fears, building confidence, and embracing your worth as an entrepreneur.

From Special Needs Teacher to Sales Coach

Tiffany’s journey to becoming a renowned speaker and sales coach is anything but conventional. Growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah, she initially pursued a career as a special needs teacher. A chance encounter during college led her to the training and development industry, where she discovered her passion for coaching.

Her journey took a pivotal turn when she joined Franklin Covey, a company known for Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Working as a coach before the concept became mainstream, Tiffany honed her skills in asking the right questions, understanding client needs, and mastering the art of selling through emotional connection.

The Art of Selling: Asking Good Questions

One of Tiffany’s key takeaways is understanding that sales are rooted in serving others. Instead of feeling pushy or intrusive, think of sales as helping people get their needs met. By asking thoughtful questions, you’re guiding potential clients to solutions. Sales is not about convincing but about aligning your offer with their needs.

For many women, however, the fear of being perceived as “pushy” or “salesy” can be paralyzing. Tiffany explains that this mindset often stems from a deep-seated fear of rejection and societal conditioning. She emphasizes that being assertive is not about taking from others but about offering value and service.

Reframing Rejection: A Mindset Shift

Rejection is inevitable in business, but Tiffany offers a fresh perspective. Instead of internalizing a “no” as a personal failure, she encourages us to view it as a neutral event. You were not having lunch with that client before; you are still not having lunch now. Nothing about your worth has changed.

Tiffany shares a personal story about reaching out to an author she admired for a potential event collaboration. Though she never received a response, she didn’t take it personally. Instead, she trusted that if it was meant to happen, it would. This mindset allows her to keep moving forward without dwelling on the “what-ifs.”

Why Investing Matters

One of the most profound lessons from Tiffany is that transformation often begins at the transaction. When people invest in your services, they are committing to growth. This investment not only validates your worth but also motivates clients to take action.

Building Confidence and Embracing Your Worth

The key to overcoming sales anxiety is recognizing your worth. Tiffany shares that building confidence often comes through practice, experience, and setting boundaries around your pricing. Pricing should reflect the value you bring, and being confident in your rates helps you attract clients who respect and appreciate your work.

Practical Tips to Transform Your Sales Mindset

  1. Identify Your Why: Understanding your purpose in business helps you overcome fear.
  2. Practice the Art of Asking: Good questions guide clients to see the value in your offer.
  3. Reframe Rejection: See every “no” as a step toward finding the right fit.
  4. Invest in Yourself: Confidence grows when you commit to personal and professional development.
  5. Stay Curious: When fear arises, get curious about its origin and challenge it.

Final Thoughts

Entrepreneurship is as much about mindset as it is about strategy. Tiffany’s approach encourages us to blend self-worth with business tactics, making sales feel less like a chore and more like a purposeful service. By focusing on giving rather than taking, you’ll find that your confidence—and your business—thrives.

Passive Income Playbook

The Passive Income Playbook: How to Build Wealth While You Sleep

Isn’t it everyone’s dream to work less and make more or not work at all? What if you could create income streams that work for you, even while you sleep? Welcome to the world of passive income—where smart investments of time, money, or expertise can generate long-term revenue with minimal ongoing effort.

This guide explores some of the best passive income strategies you can use to build wealth, achieve financial security, and create the freedom to design your ideal lifestyle.

What is Passive Income?

Passive income refers to earnings that require little to no daily effort to maintain. Unlike active income, where you trade time for money (like a traditional job or freelance work), passive income allows you to earn money on autopilot after an initial investment of time, money, or resources.

Some passive income streams require upfront work, such as writing a book or creating a digital course. Others involve financial investment, like dividend stocks or real estate rentals. The key is to set up a system that continues to generate revenue with minimal ongoing input.

Top Passive Income Streams to Consider

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest and most scalable ways to earn passive income online. It involves promoting products or services and earning a commission for every sale made through your unique affiliate link.

How to Get Started:

  • Choose a niche that aligns with your expertise or interests.
  • Join affiliate programs like Amazon Associates, ShareASale, or ClickBank.
  • Create content (blog posts, videos, social media posts) that promotes these products with your affiliate links.
  • Use SEO and email marketing to drive traffic to your content.

Selling Digital Products

Creating and selling digital products is a fantastic way to generate income with minimal ongoing maintenance. Digital products are assets that can be sold repeatedly without additional production costs.

Popular Digital Products:

  • E-books
  • Online courses
  • Printables (planners, worksheets, templates)
  • Stock photos or music

Platforms like Gumroad, Teachable, or Etsy make it easy to sell digital products and reach a global audience.

Membership Sites & Subscription Services

If you have valuable knowledge to share, a membership site or subscription service can be an excellent source of recurring revenue. This model involves charging users a monthly or annual fee for exclusive access to content, community, or services.

How to Build a Membership Site:

  • Choose a niche and define the value you’ll provide.
  • Create high-quality, exclusive content (courses, live Q&As, templates, coaching, etc.).
  • Use platforms like Kajabi, Podia, or WordPress (with a plugin like MemberPress) to manage memberships.
  • Promote your membership via social media, email marketing, and content marketing.

Print-on-Demand Businesses

Print-on-demand (POD) allows you to sell custom-designed merchandise without handling inventory, shipping, or production. When a customer places an order, the product is printed and shipped by a third-party service.

Steps to Start a POD Business:

  • Create unique designs for T-shirts, mugs, phone cases, etc.
  • Use platforms like Printful, Teespring, or Redbubble.
  • Set up a store on Shopify, Etsy, or your website.
  • Promote your products via social media and content marketing.

Stock Market Investments & Dividends

Investing in dividend-paying stocks is a great way to earn passive income over time. Companies that pay dividends distribute a portion of their profits to shareholders regularly.

How to Get Started:

  • Research and invest in dividend-paying stocks (blue-chip companies often have stable dividends).
  • Reinvest dividends to compound your earnings.
  • Consider index funds or ETFs that focus on dividend stocks.

Writing & Selling Books

If you enjoy writing, publishing books (either self-published e-books or print-on-demand paperbacks) can be a lucrative passive income stream.

How to Succeed with Self-Publishing:

  • Write a book on a topic with high demand.
  • Publish through Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) or other platforms like IngramSpark.
  • Promote via social media, blogs, and email marketing.
  • Consider audiobooks for additional revenue (use ACX to publish on Audible).

Key Takeaways: Setting Yourself Up for Passive Income Success

  • Start with one or two streams – Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying everything at once.
  • Automate as much as possible – Use tools and systems to minimize hands-on work.
  • Focus on scalability – Choose income streams that can grow without a proportional increase in effort.
  • Reinvest earnings – Use profits to build more passive income sources.

Passive income isn’t about getting rich overnight—it’s about strategically building assets that work for you over time. By choosing the right income streams and putting in the upfront effort, you can create financial stability and the freedom to live life on your terms.

Which passive income stream will you start with?

SHERI BRASIER-STYLE EXPERT

Sheri Brasier Style Expert

Life is full of transitions—some exciting, some challenging, and most of them requiring us to step back and ask, Who am I now?

In a recent episode of the Redefine Business Podcast, I welcomed Sheri Brasier, Advanced Certified Life Coach and Personal Stylist, for a conversation about what it looks like to navigate big life changes and come out the other side with more confidence, clarity, and a renewed sense of personal style.

Whether you’re a mom shifting into a new season of life, an entrepreneur leveling up your business, or a leader stepping into a bigger role, this episode is for you. Sheri shares her personal journey of reinvention and how she helps women reconnect with who they are right now—and how they can show up as their most authentic, confident selves.

We Outgrow Who We Used to Be

One of the biggest takeaways from our conversation was the concept that we often outgrow past versions of ourselves. And that’s okay! In fact, it’s expected. But too often, we keep showing up as that old version—whether it’s through how we dress, how we carry ourselves, or how we show up in our relationships and businesses.

Sheri shared her own story of feeling stuck. Between motherhood, running a business, and taking on leadership roles, she realized she no longer felt like the woman she wanted to be. Her wardrobe didn’t reflect her success or her personal growth. It felt frumpy and uninspired—and as Sheri explains, it impacted how she showed up in every area of her life.

Sound familiar? It’s something a lot of women experience but don’t talk about. We get so busy doing that we forget to check in with ourselves about who we are becoming.

Your Style Reflects Your Identity (Whether You Realize It or Not!)

One of the powerful insights Sheri brings to the conversation is how much our personal style reflects our identity. It’s not about the clothes themselves—it’s about what they represent.

Sheri walks us through how women can rediscover themselves and their style after big life shifts:

1. Reevaluate Who You Are Today

Ask yourself: Who am I in this season? What’s important to me now?
Whether you’re stepping into leadership, navigating an empty nest, or pursuing a new passion project, your priorities have shifted. Sheri encourages women to intentionally align their outward appearance with their current values and goals.

2. Let Go of What No Longer Serves You

That closet full of clothes from “another life”? It might be holding you back. Sheri talks about the emotional process of decluttering and releasing anything that doesn’t align with who you are now—whether it’s clothing, old stories, or outdated mindsets.

3. Invest in Key Pieces That Make You Feel Confident

Sheri’s philosophy isn’t about a complete wardrobe overhaul. Instead, she encourages women to find a few signature pieces that help them feel like the most powerful, authentic version of themselves—whether that’s a tailored blazer, a great pair of jeans, or a bold accessory that makes you smile.

Confidence Comes From the Inside (But Clothes Can Help!)

As a Life Coach and Personal Stylist, Sheri’s work goes deeper than fashion. It’s about helping women build unshakeable self-confidence. During our interview, she talks about how confidence is something you build, not something you’re born with.

For Sheri, personal style became a gateway to rediscovering herself after feeling lost and uninspired. She now helps other women—especially professionals and entrepreneurs—step into their next chapter with clarity and confidence.

How I Streamline my Business Using my Virtual Assistant

Running a business can feel like juggling a million things at once. From marketing and content creation to client communication and social media management, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. If you’re like most entrepreneurs, you’ve probably thought, “I need to hire a virtual assistant!”—and that’s a great move. But here’s the thing: hiring a VA isn’t a magic solution unless you have the right systems in place.

Today, I’m pulling back the curtain to show you how I work with my virtual assistant, Ellie Lewis, to streamline my business so I can focus on growing (and enjoying) it.

Ellie has been part of my team for a few years now, and together we’ve created systems and processes that keep things running smoothly. We don’t spend hours on meetings or micro-managing—because we don’t need to. Instead, we’ve built a foundation of trust, clarity, and systems that allow both of us to do our jobs well, efficiently, and with minimal hand-holding.

If you’re ready to create a system that works for you and your VA (or future VA), keep reading.

Meet Ellie

Let me introduce you to Ellie. Our story goes back about seven years when I met her in Houston while she was still in high school. We connected through mutual friends, and over time, I watched her grow—through college, marriage, and even a church mission trip. Somewhere along the way, we started working together.

Today, Ellie is my virtual assistant, marketing sidekick, and an integral part of my business. She’s creative, organized, and always up for learning new things. What makes our working relationship successful isn’t just Ellie’s skill set—it’s the systems and communication strategies we’ve developed together.

Why You Can’t Expect a VA to Grow Your Business (And What You Should Do Instead)

Here’s one of the biggest mistakes I see entrepreneurs make: they hire a virtual assistant and expect them to grow their business for them.

A VA can support you in implementing strategies, managing tasks, and repurposing content—but you need to have the vision and strategy first. It’s your job as the business owner to know how to market your business and to create a clear plan. Then, your VA can help execute that plan efficiently.

Ellie and I meet weekly (or almost weekly!) to talk about what’s working, what’s not, and where we should focus our energy. These check-ins are short and sweet because we’ve developed strong systems that guide her day-to-day tasks.

Our Weekly Workflow: Simple, Systemized, and Stress-Free

1. Weekly Google Doc for Clarity

Every week, I update a simple Google Doc that outlines:

  • The current offer (a freebie or paid promo)
  • Key focuses for the week
  • Day-by-day tasks for Ellie (Monday through Friday)

This makes it crystal clear what needs to be done each day. No confusion, no wasted time. Ellie knows where to promote, what to promote, and how to prioritize her time.

2. Repurposing Content for Maximum Reach

I create a lot of content, but I don’t let it go to waste. Ellie’s role is to repurpose that content across multiple platforms:

  • Instagram
  • Facebook Group
  • LinkedIn
  • Google My Business
  • Threads

She grabs content from Instagram (which is my main platform), logs into Canva, and customizes it for different channels. While I’m the content creator, Ellie makes sure that content works hard for us everywhere.

How We Use AI to Work Smarter, Not Harder

This year, I’ve leaned heavily into using AI, specifically ChatGPT, to streamline content creation. Ellie has run with this, using AI to help with:

  • Turning podcast transcripts into long-form blog posts
  • Creating Pinterest-optimized titles and descriptions
  • Writing meta descriptions for SEO
  • Drafting captions for Facebook and Instagram

We don’t rely on AI to replace our creativity—it’s a tool that gives us a strong starting point. Ellie and I always tweak and refine the AI-generated content to make sure it matches my voice (and doesn’t sound like it was written by a robot!).

For example, ChatGPT’s intros often sound like, “In today’s fast-paced digital landscape…” and we laugh about it. But once you get past that, it’s a huge time-saver. Minutes saved add up to hours gained!

Inside Our Systems: SOPs, Airtable, and Automation

What makes this machine run smoothly is our systems. Here’s a peek into what we’ve built:

1. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

We have detailed SOPs for each recurring task, from promoting offers to repurposing content. Ellie has access to Canva templates, pre-written scripts, and a library of graphics. This means she can work independently without waiting on me for approval.

2. Airtable for Organization

Airtable is our command center. We use it to track:

  • Offers and freebies
  • Podcast episodes (with files, guest info, and promotion schedules)
  • Event outreach (for summits, podcast guests, etc.)
  • Affiliate links and Amazon favorites
  • Weekly tasks and hours worked

Ellie can find everything she needs in one place, from headshots to affiliate codes. No more digging through email threads or Google Drive folders.

3. Automations for Efficiency

I’ve set up automations that notify Ellie when a podcast or blog post is ready to go live. When I publish something, she gets an automatic email with next steps. This keeps things moving without constant back-and-forth communication.

Passive Income Systems: Amazon Affiliates and More

One of the systems we’ve implemented is promoting Amazon affiliate products. Here’s how it works:

  • I upload my favorite products to an Airtable database (with images, links, and dates promoted)
  • Ellie selects a few products each week to highlight on social media
  • She creates simple graphics in Canva and writes captions that encourage followers to check out my Amazon storefront

This has turned into a steady stream of passive income without requiring a ton of extra work.

Templates: The Secret to Speed and Consistency

Templates are a game-changer. We have pre-designed Canva templates for:

  • Podcast graphics
  • Instagram posts
  • Pinterest pins
  • Blog headers

Ellie can drag-and-drop new content into these templates, keeping our branding consistent and saving hours of design time.

Our Communication Style: Light, Efficient, and Fun

Ellie and I don’t need daily check-ins. We text, we use Marco Polo, and we have our weekly meeting. Most of the time, Ellie works about 5-6 hours a week (sometimes more when we’re launching something big like our Online Business Summit!).

Because we have clear systems in place, I don’t need to micromanage. Ellie knows my voice, she knows my business, and she runs with it.

Systems Are the Secret to Scaling

If you’re feeling overwhelmed in your business, take a step back and look at your systems. Do you have clear processes for your VA (or future VA) to follow? Are you maximizing your content by repurposing it? Are you using tools like AI and Airtable to work smarter, not harder?

Building these systems takes time upfront, but it pays off in the long run. You’ll be able to grow your business without burning out—and maybe even have time for that Diet Coke break (or two).

If you want to dive deeper into the systems we use and get access to templates, tutorials, and my exact workflows, check out my membership. I’ll show you how to streamline and scale without sacrificing your sanity.
